The Ladies conducted their cookie exchange and displayed them and exchanged the cookies among the participants. Our Church School children had a surprise visit from Santa Claus and sand Christmas Carols.

BISHOP TIKHON WAS THE MAIN CELEBRANT - 09/25/11
A Memorial Service for those killed during the 911 attack on the World Trade Center was held following the 2nd Annual Car Show.His Grace, Bishop Tikhon was present and led the service with Fathers Johns Kowalczyk and John Perich. Reader Vasily Dubee Sr sang God Bless America at the end.

FUNDRAISER WAS A HUGE SUCCESS. - 09/23/11
Our Second Annual " Christmas in September" was held and featured many items from Russia, Greece, Poland and the Holy Land. Also many types of breads, pierogies and sweets were available. Our kitchen workers , under the direction of Father Gabe Petorak supplied homemade foods for the shoppers.A car show was held on the last day.

Our Annual Summer Indoor Picnic was held and a variety of foods were made available. Hot dogs, hamburgs, salads, rolls, coffee and of course a dessert table with lots of goodies. It was a very successfule event and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Our parish honored 4 members who have graduated from various High Schools in the area. Each each one was presented with a gift from the parish Scholarship Committee. Standing from left are Jullianne Soroka, Abington Heights, Rachael Baldan and Mary Elizabeth Slachta, Lakeland High School. Kristen Twardzik, Lakeland was absent and was presented her gift this morning by ger granfather, Protodeacon Gabriel Petorak.

EVENT WILL BE SEPT,24TH,25TH AND 26TH,2011 - 06/13/11
The Committee planning the 2nd Annual Christmas in September met at our Church Center. There will be many newer attractions and more vendors along with games and rides for children. Father John Perich was our guest and helping make this event larger. A Car Show will be among the added attractions on September 26th with trophies being awarded. More news will follow in the coming weeks.

2011 OFFICERS APPROVED AND INSTALLED - 04/10/11
Newly elected Officers of our Church Council were installed and presented with a gold neck cross by Father John during the Divine Liturgy. A letter of approval from our Diocesan Hierarch, His Grace,Bishop Tikhon was confirming the Officers for 2011. Each were presented with a gold cross by Father John. Our Starosta,Joseph Krentitsky is now serving in his 33rd Year.

LENTEN VISIT BY HIS GRACE, BISHOP TIKHON - 04/03/11
Vladyka Tikhon made a Lenten vist to our Church and served the Divine Liturgy with Archapriests John Kowalczyk and Michael Lepa and Protodeacons Gabriel Petorak and Peter Skoog. During the Liturrgy, Vladimir Kitchura was Tonsured to the Rank of Reader. Protodeacon Petorak was awarded the Order of St Patriarch Tikhon of Moscow . A light Lenten luncheon followed in the church parlor.

The Kursk Icon of the Mother of God made a bisit to our church. The Icon is visiting Orthodox Churches throughout the East and made its way to Jermyn,PA. The Archpriest Serge Lukianov is in charge of the Icon and gave a historical presentation following the Moleben which was served by His Grace,Bishop Tikhon and the Archpriests John Kowalczyk,rector, Stephen Kopestonsky,Daniel Geeza and Father Serge.

TRADITIONAL PARISH SUPPER FOLLOWING GREAT VESPERS - 01/05/11
Our Traditional Holy Supper was held following Great Vespers at our church hall. This is held to commemorate the Baptism of our Lord,God and Saviour, Jesus Christ by John the Baptist in the River Jordan. Traditional Lenten Foods are served since it is a Strict Fast Day. Over 70 attended and the affair was under the supervision and prepared by Protodeacon Gabriel Petorak and his staff.

The parishionerss of our Church held a dinner in Honor of Father John and Matushka Kowalczyk & family.It was a way of showing appreciation for 25 years at St Michael's. Through their leadership the parissh has prospered and grown and is growing into the future. Father is the longest priest to serve as Rector here. MAY GOD GRANT THEM MANY,MANY BLESSED YEARS IN THE YEARS TO COME !!!

Protodeacin Gabriel Petorak nade is Bi-Annual Trip to Dubryich, Ukraine in early July. The Church is St Mary's Orthodox Church and is a sister Church of St Michael's in Jermyn. Our parishioners have benn very generous to the Church in Ukraine over the years with monetary donations for which many things have been purchased for the Church.The Ukrainian people do not have enough funds to furnish their Church. St Michael's adopted the parish and support it regularly.

ARIEL KRAVETSKY AWARDED 2010 SCHOLARSHIP - 06/20/10
Ariel Kravetsky, Uniondale, was awarded the 2010 Scholarship from the Scholarship Committee. She will attend Penn State Hazleton Campus this Fall. Julianna Soroka observed her 18th Birthday and celebrated it with a parishioners following the Divine Liturgy.

100th Anniversary Celebration - 11/07/09
On Saturday, November 7, 2009, the 100th Anniversary of the beginnings of the church was celebrated at St. Michael's Orthodox Church in Jermyn. His Grace, Bishop Tikhon was the main celebrant along with 18 other members of the clergy. The Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was followed by a Grand Banquet at Heart Lake Lodge. It was a truly prayerful, inspiring, and wonderful day to mark this special event.
