Holy Supper on the Eve of the Baptism of Our Lord - 01/05/08
Each year for the past 4, St. Michael's Church holds its Annual "Holy Supper" following Vespers. The supper is prepared by Protodeacon Gabriel Petorak with the help of his kitchen crew. This year 50 attended and the foods were the traditional foods served on the Eve of the Nativity of Christ. Each person used a spoon during the meal. Desert included 19 different fruits in a cup.

New Heating System - 01/27/08
A new heating system that included 2 New Gas Burners was Blessed by Father John following the Divine Liturgy. The units are "state of the art" and were installed by Jim Briggs of Clarks Summit. A light luncheon was served to those in attendance following the Blessing and Ribbon Cutting ceremonies.

Dedication and Blessing of New Archway to Parish Cemetery - 06/15/07
On the Feast of Holy Pentecost, a new Archway to the parish cemetery was Dedicated and Blessed by His Grace, Rt Rev Tikhon assisted by Father John Kowalczyk and Protodeacon Gabriel Petorak . The Archway was constructed with wood imported from Romania and took 2 years to complete. It stands 14 feet tall and 9 feet wide.This will begin the Centennial Celebration of the parish scheduled for the year 2009.

Fr. Dahulich concelebrates at St. Michael's - 12/14/08
The Adopt a Seminarian program was begun three years ago at St. Michael's as a way to aid a seminarian in their tuition payment while at St. Tikhon's Monastery. The seminarian the church adopted was Vasily Dubee of Jermyn. He has been an outstanding student and we, at St. Michael's, are all proud of him. On Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, Fr. Michael Dahulich, Dean of the Seminary at St. Tikhon’s concelebrated Divine Liturgy with Fr. John. At the end of the liturgy, Kay Fedirko, church treasurer, presented Fr. Dahulich with a check toward the church’s obligation to the Adopt a Seminarian program. The money is raised by donations from parishioners.

Christmas presents were presented to Father Adam Sexton and his family through the generosity of St Michael's members for the Nativity of Christ. Father Adam is newly ordained and Rector of St John the Baptist Church in the Hanover Section of Nanticoke .He did an Internship here at St. Michael's while at St Tikhon's Seminary. He and Matushka have 7 children.

FATHER PETER, ANTIOCHIAN ORTHODOX ARCHDIOCESE IS GUEST AT ST MICHEAL'S - 05/03/09
Father Peter Gillquist, Antiochian Orthodox Diocese was our guest this morning for Divine Liturgy and in the evening he gave an Inspiring Lecture on his journey to the Orthodox church from the Protestant Evangelists. More than 70 persons attended the Lecture and enjoyes a delicious luncheon in the church parlors. Father Peter answered questions from the attendees. His Grace, Rt Rev Tikhon and clergy from area churches were also in attendnace.

SCHOLARSHIPS WERE PRESENTED TO 4 MEMBERS OF ST MICHAEL'S - 06/21/09
Scholarships were presented to 4 members of the parish. Every June since Father John Kowalczyk initiated the Program, every graduate from the parish received a scholarship to further their education. This year's receipients were: Seminarian Vasily Dubee, St Tikhons Seminary, who completed a Priestly Formation Program; Elizabeth Krenitsky, Carbondale High School and Rachel Bernosky and Daniel Schlasta, both from Lakeland High School. Dave Krenistky accepted his daughter's scholarship in her absence.

Blessing of Regilded Altar Items - 08/16/09
The Centennial Committee decided to donate the regilding of the two fans, processional cross, and chalice to commemorate the church's Centennial. They look magnificent and as good as new. Fr. Gabe also polished up one of our old silver chalices that will be used at the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy on Saturday, November 7, 2009.

100th Anniversary Celebration - 11/07/09
On Saturday, November 7, 2009, the 100th Anniversary of the beginnings of the church was celebrated at St. Michael's Orthodox Church in Jermyn. His Grace, Bishop Tikhon was the main celebrant along with 18 other members of the clergy. The Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was followed by a Grand Banquet at Heart Lake Lodge. It was a truly prayerful, inspiring, and wonderful day to mark this special event.

INFANT DEMETRIUS GETZIE CHRISTENED BEFORE LITURGY - 02/21/10
Sunday of Orthodoxy was a dualy event here at St. Michael's. Infant Demetrius Getzie was Baptized and Church School children participated by processing into the church each carrying an Icon and Blessed by Father John . A Lenten Meal was served following Divine Liturgy through the generosity of Joseph and Marci Getzie.

SECOND SUNDAY OF GREAT LENT - 02/28/10
St Michael's hosted the Lenten Mission which was served by the Clergy of our Deanery. A Lenten meal followed the service at St Michael's Center which was prepared by Protodeacon Gabriel Petorak abd his helpers.
