Fr. William Rusk was born in Stroudsburg, PA in 1983. Raised Roman Catholic, he attended Notre Dame Catholic School in East Stroudsburg, K-12. Fr. William went on to attend Marywood University in Scranton, PA where he obtained a B.A. in Art Therapy and an M.A. in Studio Arts. Fr. William met his wife Sara at Marywood and they are happily married with two daughters, Cora and Ruth.

Throughout high school and college, Fr. William enjoyed working maintenance on a local golf course. Here, Fr. William developed a deep love for early mornings, the outdoors, and manual labor. Upon graduation, Fr. William began his career at Northampton Community College teaching Studio Arts and Art History. It was during these formative years that he discovered the Orthodox Church. After some time, Fr. William felt the desire to study the faith further and enrolled at St. Tikhon’s Seminary as a part-time student. He then transferred his credits to St Vladimir’s Seminary and, after residency, received his M.A. in Theology. Upon return to parish life, Fr. William felt the call to serve Christ in a different capacity. With guidance from his parish priest and mentor Fr. Nicholas Solak, Fr. William was tonsured a Reader in 2022, and then ordained a Deacon in 2024. He faithfully served Holy Trinity in Stroudsburg, PA until his ordination to the Holy Priesthood in January, 2025.

Mat. Sara is the director of Day-Habilitation Facility for adults with severe disabilities and Fr. William teaches Religious Studies courses at Marywood University. After serving as a supply priest for the Diocese since his ordination to the priesthood, Fr. William was assigned to St. Michael’s in Jermyn, PA in July of 2025. When not serving the needs of the parish, Fr. William can be found spending time with his children and working on their family farm where his wife grew up.

The Holy Scripture is a collection of books written over multiple centuries by those inspired by God to do so. It is the primary witness to the Orthodox Christian faith, within Holy Tradition and often described as its highest point. It was written by the prophets and apostles in human language, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and collected, edited, and canonized by the Church.

Holiness or sainthood is a gift (charisma) given by God to man, through the Holy Spirit. Man's effort to become a participant in the life of divine holiness is indispensable, but sanctification itself is the work of the Holy Trinity, especially through the sanctifying power of Jesus Christ, who was incarnate, suffered crucifixion, and rose from the dead, in order to lead us to the life of holiness, through the communion with the Holy Spirit.
